I buy from here from time to time as they have some favourite wines that it's difficult to source elsewhere. Acceptable prices and well packaged. My only reason for not giving five stars is that the delivery date never is the date given at check-out. Always a few days later. So take the delivery date with a pinch of salt.

Witte wijnen

Witte Wijnen

Witte wijnen worden gemaakt door de druiven voorzichtig te persen om alleen het sap te extraheren. Het minimaliseren van het contact tussen de schil en het sap zorgt voor een lichte wijn met veel frisheid. Rijkere en complexere witte wijnen worden meestal gemaakt door het sap te laten gisten in eikenhouten vaten of door de wijn te laten rijpen op de droesem of gistcellen. Afhankelijk van de gewenste stijl worden witte wijnen jong gebotteld of gerijpt in eikenhouten vaten of in neutrale roestvrijstalen tanks. Droge witte wijnen passen bijzonder goed bij verse zeevruchten, gegrilde vis, salades, pittige Aziatische curry's en kipgerechten.

Belangrijke witte wijngebieden

Beroemde witte wijngebieden zijn onder meer Bourgondië in Frankrijk, dat bekend staat om zijn elegante Chardonnay, en Bordeaux, dat prachtige witte blends produceert. Witte druivenrassen groeien over het algemeen beter in koelere gebieden, en daarom staan Duitsland, Oostenrijk en de Elzas vooral bekend om hun frisse Riesling en Gruner Veltliner. Californië staat bekend om zijn krachtige eiken Chardonnay, terwijl Nieuw-Zeeland bekend staat om zijn karakteristieke Sauvignon Blanc met kruisbessensmaak.

Witte Wijn Druivensoorten

Witte wijn wordt gewoonlijk gemaakt van witte druiven, hoewel het ook mogelijk is zwarte druiven te persen om er lichtgekleurd sap uit te halen dat vervolgens tot witte wijn kan worden verwerkt. De belangrijkste internationale soorten witte wijn zijn Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Grigio en Riesling. Er zijn ook veel populaire inheemse witte wijndruiven zoals Albarino of Alvarinho in Spanje en Portugal, Furmint in Hongarije, en Trebbiano en Fiano in Italië.
