A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Elisabetta Pala's dynamische en jeugdige wijnlabel Mora & Memo werd opgericht in 2013 en probeert de schoonheid van het Sardijnse terroir en de karaktervolle lokale druivenrassen vast te leggen. Gelegen in het zuidoosten van Sardinië, liggen Elisabetta's wijngaarden op prachtige glooiende heuvels en kalksteen bodems die helpen om gerichte en zuivere wijnen te produceren die ideaal zijn voor elegant dagelijks genot.

    Deze lichte en verfijnde Vermentino is een geweldig voorbeeld van de meest populaire witte wijnvariëteit van Sardinië. Het fruit is afkomstig van 30 jaar oude wijnstokken geplant op ongeveer 200 meter hoogte op slechts een paar kilometer afstand van de zee. Deze omstandigheden zorgen voor evenwichtige en perfect rijpe druiven met veel frisheid en natuurlijke aroma's dankzij de verkoelende zeebries en het lange rijpingsseizoen.

    Fragrante hints van salie, rozemarijn en tijm komen als eerste uit het glas, en doen denken aan de kruiden die in het wild groeien in de buurt van de Sardijnse kust. De eerste slok onthult een scherpe zuurgraad en soepele textuur met veel heldere citrus, groene appel en perentonen die eindigen in een schone en verfrissende afdronk. Een geweldig aperitief of partner voor zeevruchten, gegrilde vis of pittige Aziatische gerechten.
