Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Drink hem nu of bewaar hem tot 15 jaar. U hoeft hem niet te decanteren, maar opent hem best een half uur voor het serveren.

    Opgericht in 2002 door David Clarke en zijn vrouw Cheryl (geboren Thorn), vertegenwoordigt het Thorn Clarke wijnhuis de vereniging van twee historische Barossa Valley families. In feite waren de families van zowel David als Cheryl pioniers in deze regio van Zuid-Australië. Het echtpaar kocht hun eerste wijngaarden in 1987 en produceerde ongeveer 15 jaar lang druiven voor andere wijnhuizen. Gezien het succes dat ze boekten, besloten ze toen meer land te kopen in de Barossa Valley en Eden Valley en hun eigen wijnmakerij te openen.

    De wijn is vernoemd naar William Randell, een van de voorouders van de familie, die in 1837 naar Australië emigreerde. De 100% Shiraz druiven komen uitsluitend van eigen wijngaarden. De druiven van verschillende percelen worden apart gevinifieerd en gerijpt en worden pas voor het bottelen gemengd. Voor de uiteindelijke blend worden alleen de beste vaten van de beste percelen gebruikt. De wijn wordt alleen in uitzonderlijke jaren geproduceerd.

    De William Randell Shiraz heeft een intens rode kleur met paarse reflecties. De wijn is in klassieke Barossa stijl en toont een rijk boeket van rood fruit, braam, zoethout, gekruide pruim en rokerige tonen in de neus. In de mond is hij diep en dicht met hints van rijpe moerbei en bessencompote. De tannines zijn hartig en rond met een zeer aangename en verfijnde kruidige afdronk. Drink hem bij lamsvlees.
