Boutique Wijnen

Boutique wijnen worden gemaakt door kleine wijnhuizen die vaak door een familie worden gerund en traditionele, ambachtelijke methoden gebruiken. Deze wijnhuizen produceren vaak niet meer dan 10.000 kisten wijn per jaar en hebben kleine wijngaardpercelen die ze met de hand oogsten. Boutique wijnhuizen zijn vaak al vele generaties in de familie of zijn recentelijk opgericht door innovatieve jonge wijnmakers.

Ambachtelijke wijnbouwmethoden

Aangezien boetiekwijnen gewoonlijk zeer kleinschalig zijn, moet veel werk met de hand worden gedaan. Bij de oogst helpen vaak de hele familie en de plaatselijke gemeenschap om de druiven te plukken. De kleinschalige productie maakt het gemakkelijker om zeer hoge kwaliteitsnormen te handhaven en meer aandacht te hebben voor details tijdens het hele wijnbereidingsproces. Boetiekwijnhuizen doen vaak het meeste werk met de hand, inclusief het bottelen en etiketteren van al hun wijnen.

Belangrijke Boutique wijngebieden

Boetiekwijnen worden overal ter wereld geproduceerd, maar er zijn bepaalde regio's waar ze vaker voorkomen. Een goed voorbeeld is Bourgondië in Frankrijk, waar het erfrecht inhoudt dat het eigendom gelijkelijk moet worden verdeeld tussen alle kinderen, wat leidt tot veel kleine wijnmakerijen waar traditionele ambachtelijke methoden als de norm worden beschouwd. Boutique wineries zijn ook te vinden in de hele Nieuwe Wereld, waaronder Californië, Australië en Zuid-Afrika, waar een sterke culturele neiging tot innovatie en experimenteren bestaat.
