A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    La Condenada is een uitgesproken Spaanse rode blend, samengesteld uit 80% Tempranillo, met kleinere porties Graciano, Palomino en Grenache. Het barst van de geuren van braam, aardbei en cassis, met onderliggende hints van paarse flora en kruiden.

    Bodegas Artuke werd opgericht in 1991, toen Roberto de Miguel besloot om de sprong te wagen van het massaal verkopen van wijn naar het zelf bottelen ervan. De naam is ontleend aan zijn twee zonen - Arturo en Kike, die nu zelf de wijnmakerij runnen. Van de 22 hectare wijngaarden waar Artuke uit put, gelegen tussen de steden Baños de Ebro en Ábalos, in Rioja, waren ongeveer 7,5 hectare ooit volledig verlaten - een teken van de vastberadenheid van de wijnmakers om hun landschap te behouden.

    Fijnkorrelige tannines en delicate mineraliteit ontmoeten u in de mond, gekoppeld aan een levendige zuurgraad. Zwart en rood fruit omhullen de tong, samen met gedroogde kruiden en hints van glühweinspecerijen, zoals kaneel en steranijs. De vruchten werden geoogst van een oude wijngaard op zandgrond, en vervolgens 14 maanden gerijpt in Franse eik. Het is een briljante partner voor gerijpte kaas, geroosterd vlees of een geroosterde groentesoep.
