Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Bodega Baigorri, opgericht in 1996, is gevestigd in Samaniego, een van de meest interessante steden van de Rioja Alavesa. De moderne wijnmakerij, met daarachter de Sierra Cantabria, opent haar prachtige ramen op de omliggende wijngaarden. De wijnmakerij is 105 meter onder de grond gebouwd en maakt gebruik van de meest rigoureuze methoden om de druiven met de hand en door de zwaartekracht te behandelen, om het gebruik van pompen of mechanische methoden die de druiven of de wijn zouden kunnen beschadigen, te vermijden.

    De B70 wordt gemaakt met 100% Tempranillo druiven, geoogst van 70 jaar oude wijnstokken op de eerste hellingen in de bergen, op bodems die gekenmerkt worden door een grote minerale en organische rijkdom. De druiven worden met de hand geselecteerd en geoogst. De gisting vindt plaats in open vaten. De wijn rijpt vervolgens 22 maanden in nieuwe Franse eiken vaten.

    Dit is een wijn die de complexiteit van het Rioja terroir volledig tot uitdrukking brengt. Het is een elegante, ronde en krachtige wijn die ondanks de lange houtrijping zijn ras- en fruitexpressie behoudt.

    Op de neus is de wijn energiek met intense aroma's van rijp rood fruit en delicate minerale tonen die het aromatische profiel compleet maken. In de mond is hij rond, met stevige maar zachte tannines. De houtinvloed is perfect geïntegreerd en de afdronk is zeer lang en aanhoudend. Het is de perfecte wijn voor Iberico ham of Chorizo, maar hij past goed bij alle rood vlees.
