A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Verdicchio is een minder bekende witte Italiaanse druif, die bijna uitsluitend in de regio Marche wordt verbouwd. De familie Bisci is een van de grootste exponenten van deze druif en maakt een prachtige reeks knisperende witte wijnen vanuit hun hoofdkantoor in Matelica. Het wijnhuis bestaat uit 25 hectare en werd in 1972 opgericht door de broers Giuseppe en Pierino, en wordt tegenwoordig voortgezet door een ander paar broers, de zonen van Giuseppe.

    Verdicchio di Matelica is de eerste en belangrijkste wijn van de familie Bisci, geoogst van kalkrijke bodems binnen de Matelica DOC. Hij is strogeel in het glas, met groene tinten, en lijkt te exploderen met geuren van nectarine, citroenschil en witte bloemen. Het is een opvallend frisse wijn, perfect voor diegenen die op zoek zijn naar een nieuwe favoriet onder de radar.

    In de mond breidt het profiel zich uit naar smaken van wit steenfruit, met bloementonen van jasmijn, lelie, hibiscus, sappige citroen en een ader van ziltigheid. De druiven werden gefermenteerd in betonnen tanks en rijpten daarna 2 maanden in de fles. Een strakke, verhoogde zuurgraad loopt door deze wijn, waardoor het een veelzijdige keuze is voor bij het eten. Drink hem bij witte vis, geroosterd wit vlees of een romige vegetarische pastaschotel.
