Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    De Bessa-vallei ligt in het zuiden van Bulgarije, dicht bij de oude stad Plovdiv, en geniet van uitstekende wijnbouwomstandigheden dankzij de nabijheid van het Rhodope-gebergte en de Maritsa-rivier. Het was het terroir hier, vooral de uitstekende klei- en kalksteenbodems, dat voor het eerst de aandacht trok van graaf Stephan von Neipperg, de eigenaar van Chateau Canon La Gaffeliere en La Mondotte in Bordeaux.

    Heden ten dage richt zijn baanbrekende wijnmakerij zich op het produceren van uitstekende Bordeaux-wijnen zoals deze Petite Syrah. De wijn wordt gemaakt van perfect rijpe druiven die met de hand worden geplukt en zorgvuldig gesorteerd in de wijnmakerij. Het fruit wordt vervolgens gekneusd en vergist in betonnen tanks, gevolgd door 12 maanden rijping in Franse eiken vaten tot de wijn klaar is om gebotteld te worden.

    Op de neus zijn er verleidelijke hints van kersen, wilde bosbessen en delicate tonen van kruiden en vanille van het eikenhout. De eerste slok onthult een robuuste volle body, zachte tannines en een stevige kern van donker fruit die doorwerkt in de lange, complexe afdronk. Een geweldige wijn om te serveren bij stevig rood vlees of pastagerechten op basis van tomaten, dankzij het intense smaakprofiel.
