Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Dit is een medium-bodied, 100% Cabernet Franc wijn, met een geurige neus van rode bessen, zure kersen, rozenblaadjes, vanille en viooltjes. De druiven zijn geoogst van wijngaarden in eigendom in de subregio's Osoyoos en Oliver, British Columbia.

    De producenten, Burrowing Owl Estate Winery, zijn al ongeveer 25 jaar actief in de regio. Oprichter Jim Wyse heeft stappen ondernomen om ervoor te zorgen dat hun wijnen uitsluitend afkomstig zijn van wijngaarden die eigendom zijn van het landgoed - alle 210 hectare. Het landgoed ligt net binnen de Canadese grens, op het noordelijkste puntje van een dorre steppe, gevormd door oude gletsjers en de machtige schaduw van de Cascade bergketen.

    Na de oogst en gisting rijpten de druiven 15 maanden in een zorgvuldig mengsel van eikenhouten vaten: 85% Frans, 13% Hongaars en 2% Amerikaans. Hierdoor heeft de wijn rijpe, goed afgeronde tannines en een subtiele onderstroom van bakkruiden die u in de mond kunt ontdekken. De smaak is gevuld met tonen van pruimen, rood fruit en tijm, met hartige hints van leer, tabaksrook en grafiet. De afdronk is lang en hartig. Overweeg om deze Cabernet Franc te combineren met rokerige, umami gerechten, zoals gestoofd rundvlees, dhal van rode linzen of risotto met paddenstoelen.
