Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Gesteld onder de indrukwekkende Te Mata bergtop, is Craggy Range een van Nieuw-Zeelands beste boutique wijnmakerijen. Deze verfijnde Nieuw-Zeelandse rode wijn heet "Sophia" naar de oude Griekse personificatie van wijsheid, als eerbetoon aan de unieke mix van kennis, ervaring en begrip die nodig is om een werkelijk uitzonderlijke wijn te creëren.

    Voornamelijk samengesteld uit Merlot samen met Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc en een druppel Petit Verdot, wordt deze cuvee gemaakt met fruit uit het Gimblett Gravels gebied dat zorgvuldig wordt gemengd om het onderscheidende karakter van het lokale terroir te vangen. Eenmaal in de wijnmakerij worden de druiven afzonderlijk per partij gevinifieerd met een rijping in Franse eiken vaten gedurende 19 maanden. De uiteindelijke blend wordt gemaakt door de meester-wijnmaker en de wijn mag rusten en rijpen in de fles voordat hij klaar is voor vrijgave.

    Dit helpt om een rijk aromatisch rood te creëren dat barst van de cassis, bramen, cacao en winterse kruiden op een ruggengraat van stevige tannines en een goed ontwikkelde structuur. Het elegante maar krachtige smaakprofiel en de lange afdronk maken dit een geweldige gastronomische wijn, ideaal om te combineren met stevige rundvleesstoofpotten, biefstuk of rijke vegetarische gerechten zoals moussaka.
