Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Dry Creek Vineyard in Sonoma County heeft zich vanaf het begin gespecialiseerd in Zinfandel. Opgericht door David S. Stare in 1972, was het wijnhuis een van de eerste die consequent de term "Old Vine" gebruikte op zijn flessen. De druiven die voor deze botteling worden gebruikt, zijn afkomstig van de historische wijngaarden van het domein met wijnstokken van 50 tot 100 jaar oud. Omdat deze wijnstokken zeer oud zijn, is de productie beperkt en zijn de geproduceerde druiven zeer intens en geconcentreerd.

    Het hete, droge klimaat in de Dry Creek Valley AVA is perfect geschikt voor het cultiveren van Zinfandel wijnstokken. Na de oogst worden de druiven gevinifieerd in roestvrijstalen tanks en worden kleine hoeveelheden Petite Sirah toegevoegd om extra kleur en diepte aan de afgewerkte wijn te geven. De wijn rijpt 16 maanden in een combinatie van Amerikaanse, Franse en Hongaarse eiken vaten om de tannines te verzachten en een evenwichtige, harmonieuze wijn te produceren.

    Het resultaat is een opmerkelijk kruidige en intense Zinfandel die barst van de aroma's van bramen, donkere kersen en rokerige tabak. Het gehemelte onthult een grote gedurfde structuur, volle body en geconcentreerde aroma's van donkere bessen, zwarte peper en zoete specerijen. De zachte tannines en lange afdronk maken dit een uitstekende partner voor stevige gerechten met rood vlees, zoals biefstuk, stoofvlees of zelfs wild.
