    De Toscaanse kuststreek Bolgheri is nog relatief jong, maar heeft snel zijn stempel gedrukt op de wereldwijde wijnscène dankzij een reeks fantastische lokale wijnen, waaronder de wereldberoemde Sassicaia. Het Grattamacco landgoed werd in 1977 gekocht door Claudio Tipa, eigenaar van ColleMassari in het zuiden van Toscane, en in de loop der jaren heeft het een reputatie opgebouwd voor Bordeaux-stijl blends van topkwaliteit en klassieke Italiaanse wijnen.

    L'Ablarello Bolgheri Superiore bestaat voornamelijk uit Cabernet Sauvignon, die goed gedijt in het mediterrane kustklimaat van de regio. Ook Cabernet Franc en Petit Verdot maken deel uit van de blend, met hoeveelheden die variëren van jaargang tot jaargang. Alle druiven worden biologisch en zo duurzaam mogelijk verbouwd, en na de vinificatie rijpt de jonge wijn 18 maanden in eikenhouten vaten.
