Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Gesticht door Dennis en Judy Groth in 1982, heeft dit eersteklas Napa landgoed 121 hectare in het hart van de Oakville AVA. De familie Groth wist al snel dat ze de juiste beslissing hadden genomen toen hun Cabernet uit 1985 de allereerste Amerikaanse wijn werd die 100 punten kreeg van de legendarische wijncriticus Robert Parker. Hun wijnen werden op slag een succes en zijn nog steeds zeer gewild bij wijnliefhebbers over de hele wereld.

    Net als die uitzonderlijke Cabernet uit 1985, is deze klassieke Cabernet gemaakt van topkwaliteit, afkomstig van wijnstokken die nu op hun hoogtepunt zijn. Groth's wijnmaker Cameron Parry vergist het fruit in roestvrijstalen tanks en perst de druiven voordat de wijn volledig droog is, om een onderscheidend zoet fruitkarakter aan de wijn toe te voegen. Hij voegt ook een kleine hoeveelheid Merlot toe voor een rijkere, zachtere textuur en een grotere intensiteit van het fruit.

    De laatste stap is om de jonge wijn 18 maanden te laten rijpen in 100% nieuw Frans eikenhout, wat de blend harmoniseert en de tannines verzacht. Het resultaat is een weelderige rode wijn met veel pruimen, cassis en wilde bessen die blijven hangen op de tong, samen met tonen van kruiden, tabaksbladeren, toast en pure chocolade van de eikenhouten rijping.
