Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Vangelis Gerovassiliou studeerde wijnbouw en werkte in enkele van Griekenlands meest eerbiedwaardige wijnhuizen voordat hij in 1981 terugkeerde naar de wijngaarden van zijn familie. Hij maakte het vervolgens zijn missie om het domein te renoveren en te herbeplanten, met een mix van inheemse Griekse en internationale wijnstokken over de 48 hectare grond. Tegenwoordig is het wijnhuis vooral bekend om zijn uitstekende witte wijnen gemaakt van Assyrtiko, Malagousia en Chardonnay, maar ook om zijn weelderige rode wijnen zoals deze pittige Syrah.

    In overeenstemming met de tradities van de Rhônedal, wordt een kleine hoeveelheid Viognier toegevoegd aan de Syrah voorafgaand aan het gistingsproces. Dit helpt extra aromatische kwaliteiten toe te voegen en verzacht het intense profiel van de Syrah. Het sap vergist in Bourgondische vaten van 40 hectoliter, gevolgd door een lange rijpingsperiode.

    Het resultaat is een rijke maar fluweelzachte rode wijn die onmiddellijk de zintuigen verovert dankzij de diepe robijnrode kleur en krachtige tonen van donkere pruimen, geplette wilde bessen, bittere chocolade en gepolijst leer. De stevige tannines maken dit een uitstekende keuze om te combineren met stevige rode vleesgerechten of wild, hoewel hij desgewenst ook nog een paar jaar kan worden bewaard.
