Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Nu drinken of enkele jaren bewaren. Decanteren is optioneel, de wijn kan baat hebben bij een adempauze van 30 minuten voor het serveren.

    Gesteld in de Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, begon La Crema in 1979 als "La Crema Viñera". Het wijnhuis haalde zijn druiven oorspronkelijk uit de vallei en de kustgebieden van Sonoma, maar naarmate het bedrijf groeide, groeide ook de selectie van wijngaarden. Tegenwoordig worden de wijnen van La Crema gemaakt van eersteklas druiven uit koelere gebieden in Californië en Oregon.

    In 1993 werd de wijnmakerij overgenomen door Jess Jackson en Barbara Banke, het man en vrouw duo achter Jackson Family Wines. Zij begonnen de delicate Pinot Noir te verbouwen, een destijds onderbenutte druif in Californië. De druif en het wijnhuis vormden een symbiotische relatie en stuwden elkaar naar een enorm succes in de regio.

    Sonoma Coast is La Crema's paradepaardje, gemaakt van 100% Pinot Noir. In de neus komen scherpe aroma's van donker fruit, bramen en kersen samen met warme tonen van tabak en leer. De druiven komen uitsluitend uit de Sonoma Coast AVA, een koel terroir gedefinieerd door de machtige Stille Oceaan. Rode bosvruchten domineren het gehemelte van deze droge rode wijn, met subtiele hints van cacao en exotische kruiden. Hij is een perfecte partner voor zout vlees en zoete lekkernijen, zoals gevulde dadels in spek of geglaceerde ham.
