Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Gelegen in de Californische regio Lodi werd de Michael David Winery in 1984 opgericht door de broers Michael en David Phillips, hoewel de familie Phillips een veel langere traditie van druiventeelt heeft in dit gebied, die teruggaat tot 1850. Het bedrijf bewerkt vandaag de dag ongeveer 80 hectare gecertificeerde biologische wijngaarden en betrekt andere druiven van lokale telers voor de productie van haar uitstekende wijnen.

    Cabernet Franc is een Franse wijnstok die oorspronkelijk uit de Loirevallei komt en ook veel voorkomt in Bordeaux. Onder de Franse wijnstokken is het misschien een van de minst voorkomende in Californië en meer specifiek in het Lodi gebied. De druiven worden geselecteerd uit een wijngaard zeer dicht bij de wijnmakerij in het westelijke deel van de regio.

    Inkblot Cabernet Franc is een geconcentreerde en verrassend complexe wijn, met een rijk aromatisch profiel van bramen en gedroogde vijgen, pruimen, wilde bessen en zoete specerijen. In de mond is hij sappig en vol, ondersteund door een goede zuurgraad. De tannines zijn rijp en de afdronk is erg lang met aanhoudende tonen van zoethout en tabak. Probeer hem eens bij een varkenshaasje in paddenstoelencrème of een gegrilde Toulouse worst.
