Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Alom beschouwd als de referentieproducent van Amarone della Valpolicella, is het moderne succes van Quintarelli te danken aan het harde werk van Giuseppe Quintarelli. Terwijl veel van zijn collega's overgingen op massaproductiemethoden, bleef Giuseppe vasthouden aan aloude traditionele wijnbereidingsmethoden, zoals het gebruik van grote Slavonische eiken vaten en zeer lange rijpingsperioden. Deze factoren hebben ertoe bijgedragen dat Quintarelli de topproducent van Amarone is geworden, met een portfolio vol uitzonderlijke wijnen in traditionele stijl.

    Quintarelli's Valpolicella Superiore is een klassiek voorbeeld van de stijl, met een krachtig smaakprofiel en royale volle body dankzij de praktijk van appassimento. Na de oogst worden de druiven rigoureus gesorteerd, gevinifieerd en vervolgens zeven jaar gerijpt in Slavonische eiken vaten. Dit lange rijpingsproces helpt om de tannines te verzachten en de verschillende elementen van de blend te harmoniseren, wat resulteert in een gepolijste en verfijnde rode wijn die kan wedijveren met veel Amarones.

    Op de neus zijn er intense tonen van heldere kersen en donkere pruimen, aangevuld met hints van leer, gedroogd fruit en verse munt. De eerste slok onthult een goed afgeronde textuur, intense rijpe rode fruitsmaken en veel finesse en frisheid op de lange afdronk.
