Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    De familie achter San Polo is de Allegrini familie, het best bekend voor het bevorderen van de Valpolicella zaak op het wereldtoneel, maar ook voor het produceren van verbluffend goede single-vineyard wijnen in verschillende van de meest beroemde regio's van Italië. Marilisa Allegrini, ook bekend als "Lady Amarone", is de drijvende kracht achter de Brunello wijnen van San Polo, maar ze wordt bijgestaan door haar twee dochters, Carlotta en Caterina.

    Deze Brunello di Montalcino werd geoogst van Podernovi, een perceel van 3 hectare met rijke, kleiachtige en minerale bodems. De wijn is diep robijnrood in het glas en heeft een gulle neus van rijp rood fruit, bakkruiden, viooltjes en jasmijn. Het gehemelte zit vol met zijdezachte tannines, verfrissende zuren, rood en zwart fruit en meer aardse tonen van leer, rook, koffie en zoethout. Hij heeft een uitstekend bewaarpotentieel en zal de geduldige wijnliefhebber nog jaren blijven verrassen. Combineer hem met wild, rood vlees, paddenstoelen, truffels of belegen kazen.
