A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Tchotiashvili Winery is gelegen in de vruchtbare vallei van de Alazani rivier, aan de voet van het Kaukasus gebergte, in de oostelijke Kakheti regio van Georgië. De wijngaarden, gelegen tussen 400 en 600 meter, zijn allemaal ouder dan 15 jaar en rijk aan carbonaten en humus. De regio is beroemd om zijn geschiedenis van wijnproductie en zijn klimaat dat geschikt is voor de teelt van verschillende zeldzame inheemse druivensoorten, waaronder Saperavi, Khikhvi, Kisi, Mtsvane en Rkatsiteli.

    Dark Uta is een speciale blend van 50% Shiraz en 50% van de oude Tavkveri druif. De druiven worden gemacereerd volgens de traditionele Qvevri methode gedurende 3 en een halve maand op volle schillen, pitten en stengels. Na een verblijf van 3 maanden in eiken vaten wordt de wijn zonder filtratie gebotteld.

    De wijn toont een donkere kleur met enkele paarsrode reflecties. De neus is diep en vol, maar wat lucht kan helpen om meer aroma's vrij te maken. Er is een mix van rood en zwart fruit: rode bes, maar ook zwarte bes, kers en een vleugje framboos. In de mond heeft de wijn veel frisse tonen en heerlijke pure fruittonen. De tannines zijn zacht en rijp en de body is vol. Het is een fascinerende, ronde en intense wijn met een middellange afdronk, perfect bij gegrild vlees en kaas van gemiddelde leeftijd.
