De levertijd is nagekomen. De flessen waren zorgvuldig verpakt. Perfect.

Ik koop hier af en toe iets, omdat ze een aantal van mijn favoriete wijnen hebben die elders moeilijk te vinden zijn. De prijzen zijn redelijk en de verpakking is goed. De enige reden waarom ik geen vijf sterren geef, is dat de leverdatum nooit overeenkomt met de datum die bij het afrekenen wordt aangegeven. Het is altijd een paar dagen later. Neem de leverdatum dus met een korreltje zout.

Spaanse Wijnen

Spanje is de op één na grootste wijnproducent ter wereld en maakt alles van fruitige en betaalbare publiekslievelingen tot fijne wijnen die tientallen jaren kunnen rijpen. Men denkt dat de Feniciërs zo'n 3000 jaar geleden voor het eerst wijn gingen maken en de Romeinen breidden dit later uit over het hele Iberische schiereiland. Vandaag de dag zijn er 138 identificeerbare Spaanse wijngebieden.

Belangrijkste Spaanse wijngebieden

Spanje is vooral bekend om zijn rode wijnen uit de rivaliserende regio's Rioja en Ribera del Duero. Deze enorme en diverse wijnnatie heeft ook tal van andere regio's die het ontdekken waard zijn. Goede voorbeelden zijn Priorat in Catalonië, Jumilla in het zuiden en Toro, die allemaal bekend staan om hun krachtige rode wijnen. Tot de beste Spaanse witte wijnstreken behoren Rueda en Rias Baixas in Galicië. De iconische Spaanse mousserende wijn Cava wordt grotendeels geproduceerd in de Penedes regio van Catalonië, terwijl de zuidelijke stad Jerez de la Frontera bekend staat om zijn versterkte Sherry.

Spaanse druivenrassen

De beroemdste en waarschijnlijk beste Spaanse rode wijn is Tempranillo, die in het hele land staat aangeplant, ook in Rioja en Ribera del Duero. Andere belangrijke rode wijnsoorten zijn Garnacha, Carinena en Monastrell. Witte wijnen worden meestal gemaakt van lokale druiven zoals Verdejo, Albarino en Godello. Spaanse wijnen zijn zeer eetvriendelijk en passen goed bij de vleeswaren, oude kazen zoals Manchego en verse zeevruchten van de Spaanse kust.
