    Altos Las Hormigas is al ongeveer 30 jaar een gerenommeerd Argentijns wijnhuis in Mendoza. Het bedrijf, dat eigendom is van de partners Alberto Antonini, Attilio Pagli, Carlos Vazquez en Antonio Morescalchi, strekt zich uit over ongeveer 40 hectare wijngaarden, gelegen in enkele van de beste terroirs van de Uco Vallei.

    De Malbec druiven worden geselecteerd en met de hand geoogst van wijngaarden in de buurt van de Tunuyán rivier in Paraje Altamira en in het Gualtallary gebied. Hier garanderen de alluviale bodems rijk aan calciumcarbonaat de productie van een elegante en minerale wijn. De afgewerkte wijn rijpt 18 maanden in een mix van 3500-liter foudres en betonnen tanks en laat daarna nog eens 12 maanden rusten in de fles.

    De Malbec Riserva van Altos Las Hormigas heeft een intens rode kleur met lichtpaarse tinten. Het aromatische profiel is fris en complex met tonen van pruimen en cassis, sinaasappelschil en peper, en wat balsamico en kreupelhout nuances. In de mond is hij sappig en mineraal. Hij heeft een goede body en een duidelijke zuurgraad. De tannines zijn rijp en goed geïntegreerd. De afdronk is lang en fruitig. Rood vlees en gerijpte kazen zijn de beste combinaties voor deze uitstekende en zeer voordelige Argentijnse Malbec.
