A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    La Rioja Alta wijnhuis is gevestigd in Haro en maakt al meer dan 130 jaar uitzonderlijke rode Rioja wijnen in traditionele stijl sinds de oprichting in 1890. In de jaren negentig begon het domein te onderzoeken of het zijn activiteiten kon uitbreiden naar de Ribera del Duero en deed uitgebreid onderzoek naar de bodem, de druiven en het klimaat van verschillende subzones. In 1991 kozen ze uiteindelijk het stadje Anguix voor hun nieuwe wijnmakerij en plantten ze wijngaarden op de beste locaties van het landgoed.

    Deze levendige en levendige rode wijn is gemaakt van 100% Tinta del Pais, de lokale Ribera del Duero naam voor Tempranillo. De wijngaard ligt op zachte hellingen in een dor gebied waar de arme bodem de wijnstokken aanmoedigt om diep te graven naar voedingsstoffen en vocht. Dit zorgt voor intens geconcentreerde druiven met een diepe smaak, die in de vroege ochtenduren worden geoogst om hun frisheid en natuurlijke karakter te behouden.

    Eenmaal in de wijnmakerij worden de druiven 7 dagen geweekt en vervolgens gefermenteerd in neutrale tanks. De beste partijen worden vervolgens overgebracht naar nieuwe Franse eiken vaten voor 62 dagen met regelmatig roeren van de droesem. De volgende fase is de rijping, waarbij de beste vaten 16 maanden worden bewaard voordat de uiteindelijke blend wordt bepaald en gebotteld.
