Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Drink hem nu of bewaar hem tot 10 jaar in een kelder. Decanteren is niet nodig, maar u kunt hem het beste een half uur voor het serveren openen.

    Gelegen in de Paso Robles regio van Californië, is Hope Family Wines een familiebedrijf dat 5 verschillende wijnmerken produceert, waaronder de Treana serie, Liberty School en Austin. Het bedrijf, dat eind jaren 70 werd opgericht, is sindsdien flink uitgebreid en werkt nu samen met veel wijnboeren, vooral aan de centrale kust van Californië. De Austin-lijn wordt in vrij kleine batches geproduceerd en omvat naast Cabernet Sauvignon ook Syrah, Grenache en Roussanne.

    De Cabernet Sauvignon druiven, geoogst in geselecteerde wijngaarden, worden apart gefermenteerd in roestvrij staal. De rijping gebeurt ook apart per batch en duurt 11 maanden in Frans eiken. Na het proeven van de verschillende partijen wordt de blend gecreëerd. Het resultaat is een aangename en gemakkelijk te benaderen wijn, die zich echter nog wel een paar jaar kan ontwikkelen in de kelder.

    Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon heeft een mooie intense kleur met robijnrode tinten. Het aromatische profiel is breed en onthult tonen van zwarte kersen en andere donkere bessen en wat rokerige hints op de afdronk. In de mond is hij vol en evenwichtig, rond en geconcentreerd. Hij heeft fluweelzachte tannines en een goede zuurgraad. De afdronk is lang en aangenaam en doet denken aan kruidige en koffietonen. Uitstekend bij een stoofpot van vlees met paddenstoelen.
