Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Quinta Apolonia is de jongere zus van de uitzonderlijke Belondrade y Lurton, die wordt erkend als een van de beste Verdejos op de markt. De tweede wijn van het landgoed is een zorgvuldige mix van wijn die is gefermenteerd in roestvrijstalen tanks en wijn die 3 maanden heeft gerijpt op de wijnmoer. Dit helpt om het karakter van de druivensoort te benadrukken met veel rijpe perzik en abrikoos noten, terwijl er meer complexe hints van toast en zoet gebak worden toegevoegd door de rijping op de wijnmoer.

    Het wijnhuis is opgericht door Didier Belondrade die naar Rueda kwam en werd geïnspireerd om Bourgondische wijnmaaktechnieken toe te passen om uitzonderlijke witte wijnen te creëren van de lokale Verdejo druif. Wat in het midden van de jaren negentig begon als een klein project met gehuurde wijnstokken en een klein hoekje van de wijnmakerij van een vriend bloeide al snel uit tot Belondrade's eigen wijnmakerij op het La Seca plateau, zo'n 760 meter boven zeeniveau.

    Hier heeft Belondrade zo'n 30 hectare wijnstokken geplant op kiezelachtige grond over een onderlaag van klei en zand. Het exacte karakter van de bodem varieert sterk van perceel tot perceel, waardoor Belondrade de precieze persoonlijkheid van elke wijn kan selecteren om het oogstjaar en de microterroirs van zijn wijngaarden te weerspiegelen.
