    Macán Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia is in 2004 ontstaan uit de samenwerking tussen de Tempos Vega Sicilia Group, eigendom van de familie Álvarez, en de Compañía Vinícola Barón Edmond de Rothschild met als doel wijnen van grote elegantie te maken in Rioja. Het wijnhuis is gevestigd in Samaniego, een klein stadje ongeveer 350 km ten noorden van Madrid. Na een lange periode van studie en onderzoek naar de meest geschikte gronden in het gebied, produceerde het bedrijf Macán in 2009 de eerste jaargang van zijn wijnen: Macán Clásico en Macán, gepresenteerd op de markt in 2013.

    Het totale wijngaardareaal van de bodega beslaat nu 92 hectare, gelegen op de hellingen van de Sierra Cantabria ten noorden van de Ebro. De rivier speelt een strategische rol omdat zijn aanwezigheid de temperaturen van het gebied verzacht. De Tempranillo druiven voor de wijnen worden geselecteerd uit kleine percelen wijngaarden, gerangschikt op terrassen, bestaande uit klei-kalksteen bodems.

    De Benjamin de Rothschild - Vega Sicilia Macan is een elegante en krachtige rode wijn met een kersenrode kleur in het glas. In de neus is er een mooie intensiteit van bosvruchten, zoete specerijen en cacao. In de mond is hij krachtig en intens, complex en rond. Drink hem bij Pata Negra, varkenshaas, vleesstoofpotten of gebraden lamsvlees.
