Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Merlot Wijnen

    Merlot is een van 's werelds meest populaire druivensoorten dankzij zijn weelderige aroma's van donker fruit en zijdezachte afdronk. Merlotwijnen hebben meestal een gemiddelde of volle body met vrij zachte tannines, waardoor ze gemakkelijk te drinken zijn. Typische smaken zijn bramen, cassis en pruimen met hints van donkere chocolade en veel kruiden als ze op eikenhout zijn gerijpt.

    Belangrijke Merlot Wijngebieden

    Merlot is het meest aangeplante druivenras in Bordeaux, waar het gewoonlijk wordt gemengd met cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec en petit verdot. Merlot domineert vooral op de rechteroever van de Gironde in de prestigieuze appellations Pomerol en St-Emilion, waar hij past bij de kleigrond en het gematigde klimaat. Andere belangrijke regio's voor Merlot-wijnen van hoge kwaliteit zijn Italië, waar hij wordt gebruikt in Super Toscaanse wijnen, en Napa Valley in Californië.

    Top Merlot bij gerechten

    De beste Merlot-wijnen zijn meestal eetvriendelijk dankzij hun uitnodigende en evenwichtige smaakprofiel. Merlot uit de Nieuwe Wereld, uit Californië of Australië, is meestal wat rijker en rijper en past goed bij een sappige steak, gebarbecuede ribbetjes of een stevige stoofpot. Bordeaux-wijnen op basis van merlot zijn meestal meer ingetogen en aards, passend bij wildgerechten als wild, fazant of een eenvoudige ratatouille.
