Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Het Maison Phillipponnat, gevestigd in Mareuil-sur-Ay, kan bogen op ongeveer 5 eeuwen geschiedenis en traditie en wordt vandaag de dag geleid door Charles Philipponnat, die het enorme prestige dat in de loop der tijd is verworven, voortzet. Het bedrijf wordt alom geprezen om de uitmuntendheid van de geproduceerde wijnen, waaronder de Clos des Goisses, met druiven afkomstig van de gelijknamige wijngaard van 5,5 hectare. De rest van de wijngaarden van het bedrijf zijn verdeeld over Mareuil, Ay, Mutigny en Avenay.

    De Rosé Brut Royale Réserve is een blend met een meerderheid van Pinot Noir, toevoegingen van Chardonnay en een snufje Pinot Meunier. De druiven zijn afkomstig van Grand en Premier Cru wijngaarden in Mareuil-sur-Ay. De gisting vindt deels plaats in staal en deels in vaten.

    De wijn rijpt vervolgens 36 maanden op de droesem. Het is een elegante en rijpe Champagne, delicaat en fruitig met een zalmroze kleur en oranje nuances. De neus is geurig en breed en onthult aroma's van klein rood fruit, kersen, aardbeien en citrusschillen. In de mond is hij fris, levendig en sappig. Hij onthult een uitstekende balans tussen verfrissende zuurgraad en fruitig karakter. De afdronk is lang en aangenaam. Hij is uitstekend als aperitief bij zalm, gerookte vis en ook bij wit vlees.
