A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Opgericht in 1922 door Edmond Olivier en formeel opgericht als een merk door zijn dochter Liliane in 1955, de Champagne Veuve Olivier landgoed heeft nu 21 percelen verspreid over 18 hectare. Pinot Meunier is de belangrijkste druif die op het domein wordt verbouwd, maar er worden ook Chardonnay en Pinot Noir gebruikt voor deze specifieke blend.

    Tegenwoordig wordt het bedrijf, bekend als "Recoltant-Manipulant", omdat het zijn eigen druiven verbouwt en zijn eigen wijnen produceert, geleid door Sandrine Charpentier-Olivier, de achterkleindochter van Edmond. Elk perceel wordt individueel gevinifieerd om de smaken van elk van de terroirs volledig tot uiting te laten komen. Overal in het bedrijf wordt verstandige wijnbouw bedreven.

    Champagne Veuve Olivier & Fils Secret de Cave Brut is een wijn die wordt gekenmerkt door een heldere en lichtgevende gele kleur. In de neus toont hij een rijk en complex aromatisch profiel met aroma's van steenfruit en kruidig gedroogd fruit. In de mond biedt hij een levendige en romige consistentie, met fijne en aanhoudende belletjes. Het is een vlezige en gulle Champagne, met een volwassen karakter. De afdronk is lang en aanhoudend met heerlijke tonen van honing, kreupelhout en gedroogd fruit. Serveer hem gekoeld bij witte vis met romige sauzen, bij geroosterde kip of gebakken foie gras.
