    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    De familie Brunel maakt al wijn sinds de 17e eeuw, maar pas in 1945 kocht de bekende wijnhandelaar Gaston Brunel Château de la Gardine in Chateauneuf du Pape. Tegenwoordig wordt het landgoed gerund door twee generaties Brunels, de twee zonen van Gaston en hun vrouwen en zijn kleinkinderen. In totaal hebben ze 52 hectare eersteklas wijngaarden die voornamelijk zijn beplant met rode rassen, evenals 20 hectare bos om de biodiversiteit en duurzaamheid te bevorderen.

    Een uniek kenmerk van de wijnmakerij is hun originele flesontwerp, dat gemodelleerd is naar een oude fles die Gaston in de grond vond toen hij begon te graven om de kelder uit te breiden. Om de unieke vorm te kopiëren moest hij helemaal naar Italië en sinds 1964 worden alle wijnen van de familie in deze kenmerkende flessen gestopt.

    De klassieke Chateauneuf du Pape van de familie is afkomstig van wijngaarden met vier verschillende bodemsoorten om een complexe, gelaagde wijn te creëren. Kiezelachtige "galets" bodems geven structuur en body, kalksteen brengt mineraliteit, en klei- en zandbodems helpen om elegantie in de afgewerkte wijn te creëren. Na de vinificatie rijpt de wijn 9-14 maanden in een combinatie van roestvrijstalen tanks en eikenhouten vaten.
