    Maximaal 8 jaar bewaren. Het prachtige Chateau Fonreaud heeft een prachtige ligging op het hoogste punt van de Medoc. Het landgoed heette oorspronkelijk Font-réaux wat "Koninklijke Fontein" betekent. Volgens de lokale legende dronk de koning van Engeland in de 12e eeuw uit een bron hier op het terrein. In 1962 werd het gekocht door Leo Chanfreau, een Algerijnse wijnmaker, die aan de slag ging om het landgoed te verbouwen en de wijngaarden te verbeteren.

    Heden ten dage wordt het gerund door de tweede en derde generatie van de familie, die ongeveer 38 hectare wijngaarden verzorgen, voornamelijk beplant met Cabernet Sauvignon en Merlot. De wijnstokken zijn geplant op kiezelachtige grond boven kalksteen en worden geteeld volgens duurzame en milieuvriendelijke landbouwpraktijken.

    Tijdens de oogst selecteert de familie zorgvuldig de beste percelen die worden gebruikt voor deze wijn. Eenmaal in de wijnmakerij wordt het fruit geplet en ontsteeld voordat het wordt vergist in kleine temperatuurgecontroleerde tanks. De jonge wijn rijpt vervolgens 12 maanden in eikenhouten vaten voordat hij wordt gebotteld. In de neus domineren cassis, bramen en kruidentonen, terwijl de eerste slok een weelderige, volle wijn onthult met stevige tannines en een lange, aanhoudende afdronk.
