Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Met zijn eerste oogst in 2015 is Clavis Orea een relatieve nieuwkomer in Saint Emilion, maar het domein heeft al internationale erkenning gekregen. Vernoemd naar het Latijnse woord voor "gouden sleutel", een traditioneel symbool van de horeca, werd het landgoed opgericht door Franck Jugelmann en Lahcene Boutouba die hun familieachtergrond als restauranthouders hebben gebruikt om een wijn met perfecte gastronomische balans te creëren.

    Jugelmann werkte eerder als wijnmaker op Château Haut-Brion in de Médoc en het Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé landgoed Château Fonplégade, en na een toevallige ontmoeting met Boutouba besloot het duo 8 hectare wijngaarden te huren om hun eigen wijnen te creëren. Hun kenmerkende stijl drukt de schoonheid van de Merlot van Saint Emilion uit, samen met een vleugje Cabernet Sauvignon en Cabernet Franc, zoals traditioneel is in de regio. De jonge wijn wordt gerijpt in eiken vaten en neutrale vaten om het lokale terroir en de typiciteit van de rassen te laten zien.

    Het resultaat is een elegante en toegankelijke Grand Cru die hoog boven zijn prijskaartje uitsteekt dankzij de zorgvuldige vinificatie en de precieze structuur en tannines die ervoor zorgen dat deze botteling de komende tien jaar sierlijk zal verouderen. Combineer met stevig wild of rood vlees om het intense donkere fruit en de goed geïntegreerde invloed van eikenhout te combineren.
