Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Deze ongewone oranje wijn wordt gemaakt door de Siciliaanse topwijnmakers COS, gevestigd in Vittoria in de zuidoostelijke hoek van het eiland. Het wijnhuis werd in 1980 opgericht door een trio vrienden, Giambattista Cilia, Cirino Strano en Giusto Occhipinti, die een visie hadden om de reputatie van Sicilië als producent van uitstekende ambachtelijke wijnen nieuw leven in te blazen. COS volgt sinds 2000 biodynamische praktijken en werd in 2007 ook gecertificeerd als biologisch wijnhuis.

    Rami wordt gemaakt van twee lokale witte druivensoorten, Grecanico en Insolia, die worden verbouwd op hun eigen wijngaarden in Fontane en Bastonaca. De druiven worden zorgvuldig met de hand geoogst en ondergaan een spontane gisting met behulp van wilde gisten in betonnen tanks. De schillen blijven 15 dagen in de tank om veel kleur en smaak aan de druiven te onttrekken, waardoor een rijke, robuuste sinaasappelwijn ontstaat.

    Op de neus zijn er bedwelmende aroma's van jasmijn en kamperfoelie, samen met bittere amandelen en pittige citrusvruchten. De eerste slok onthult hints van gedroogde abrikozen, geroosterde noten en een kenmerkende zoute mineraliteit van de bodem van Vittoria. Krachtig en intens, dit is een geweldige wijn om een paar jaar in de kelder te bewaren of nu te serveren bij romige kip- of visgerechten en rijke risotto's.
