Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Het Champagnehuis Duval-Leroy werd opgericht in Vertus in 1859 uit de ontmoeting tussen een koopman, Armand Edouard Leroy, en een champagne wijnmaker, Jules Duval. Deze zakelijke associatie veranderde vervolgens in een familiezaak toen de zoon van Duval trouwde met de dochter van Leroy. In 1991, toen hun kleinzoon Jean Charles Duval-Leroy overleed, werd het beheer van het huis overgelaten aan zijn dynamische echtgenote Carol Duval-Leroy. Zij was het die de beroemde cuvée Femme de Champagne lanceerde en de recente groei van het wijnhuis bevorderde. Zijn drie zonen hebben nu allemaal verantwoordelijkheden binnen het huis op zich genomen.

    La Femme de Champagne is een van hun meest iconische cuvées. De druiven komen van de Grands Crus wijngaarden van Avize, Chouilly, Oger en Mesnil-sur-Oger voor Chardonnay en van de Grand Cru Bouzy voor Pinot Noir (slechts in kleine percentages aanwezig in de blend). Het deskundige werk van Carol Duval-Leroy en Sandrine Logette-Jardin, haar keldermeester, die elk perceel afzonderlijk vinifiëren in eikenhouten vaten, voordat ze 9 jaar rijpen, voltooit het grote werk om deze ongelooflijke wijn te creëren.

    De goudgele kleur toont complexe tonen van prachtige rijpheid. De brioche en boterachtige smaken, gekenmerkt door het overwicht van Chardonnay en de houtachtige en vanille aroma's als gevolg van de rijping in eikenhouten vaten, lopen vooruit op het weelderige mondgevoel en de lange persistentie. Het is een zijdezachte en complexe Champagne, uitstekend bij rijke visbereidingen of bij gevogelte. Maar de beste combinatie is met een romige kip supreme.
