    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Een van de grote namen in de hedendaagse Ribera del Duero, de Emilio Moro wijnmakerij maakt al een halve eeuw weelderige rode wijnen van de klassieke Tempranillo druif uit de regio. Het domein wordt nu gerund door de derde generatie van de familie Moro, vertegenwoordigd door José en Javier Moro en hun vader Emilio. De familie bezit 5 hectare eersteklas Tempranillo wijngaarden die door hun grootvader zijn aangeplant in het stadje Pesquera de Duero.

    De Malleolus de Valderramiro wijn van de familie Moro is genoemd naar het Latijnse woord "kleine wijngaard" en verwijst naar de gewoonte van de familie om wijnen te maken van de uitzonderlijke kwaliteiten van hun land. Dit is een single vineyard wijn gemaakt van de Pago de Valderramiro wijngaard die bijna een eeuw geleden in 1924 werd aangeplant. Het intense continentale klimaat hier in de Ribera del Duero in combinatie met deze oude wijnstokken zorgt ervoor dat de druiven extreem geconcentreerd zijn, maar toch fijn in balans met frisheid en zachte tannines.

    De jonge wijn wordt na de gisting overgebracht naar Amerikaanse eiken vaten om malolactische gisting te ondergaan, die extra complexiteit toevoegt en de tannines helpt verzachten. Daarna wordt hij overgebracht naar Franse eiken vaten waar hij 18 maanden doorbrengt om de verschillende componenten volledig te integreren en heerlijke toasty en kruidige hints toe te voegen aan de donkere fruitsmaken.
