Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Het gerenommeerde Australische wijnhuis Thistledown produceert sinds 2010 wijnen uit verschillende subregio's van Zuid-Australië en selecteert druiven van de beste telers. Het bedrijf, dat eigendom is van Fergal Tynan en Giles Cooke, beiden MW, richt zijn productie op de Grenache en Syrah wijnstokken, met bijzondere aandacht voor de maximale expressie van het terroir en duurzame wijnbouwpraktijken.

    De Grenache druiven komen van een wijngaard met drooggegroeide oude struikstokken gelegen aan het Seaview einde van Chapel Hill Rd. Hier staan de wijnstokken op een roodbruine zandgrond met kwarts en ijzersteen en wordt er weinig ingegrepen en minimaal gesproeid. De oogst is handmatig en vindt in de vroege ochtenduren plaats. De gisting gebeurt spontaan met inheemse gisten. De afgewerkte wijn rijpt vervolgens 8 maanden in gebruikte Franse eikenhouten vaten van 300 en 500 liter.

    She's Electric is een buitengewone Grenache met een complex smaakprofiel. Hij ruikt naar framboos, wilde aardbei en sinaasappelschil, rode kers en mediterrane kruiden, roze peper en gedroogde bessen. In de mond is hij fluweelzacht en uiterst elegant, levendig en sappig. Hij heeft een goede textuur en fijne tannines. De afdronk is lang en roept tonen op van gedroogde bessen en specerijen. Past het best bij geroosterde eend geserveerd met rode vruchtensauzen.
