Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Feudi Salentini ligt verscholen in een charmant hoekje van Salento op de "hak" van Italië, omgeven door zonovergoten wijngaarden, eeuwenoude olijfbomen en de sprankelende Middellandse Zee. Het landgoed wordt vandaag de dag gerund door de derde generatie van de familie, Cosimo en Maria Teresa Varvaglione, die ernaar hebben gestreefd hun erfgoed en tradities te behouden en tegelijkertijd de modernste technieken te gebruiken om de allerbeste wijnen te produceren.

    Deze regio is beroemd om zijn robuuste en stevige rode wijnen die barsten van het rijke donkere fruit en hints van aarde en gedroogde kruiden. De hete zomerdagen en de verkoelende zeebries zorgen voor een ideaal klimaat voor de teelt van de lokale Primitivo di Manduria druif, die een optimale rijpheid bereikt en goed omgaat met de droge omstandigheden.

    Hun krachtige Sassirossi Primitivo is genoemd naar de "rode stenen" die in de wijngaarden van het landgoed te vinden zijn, een verwijzing naar de ijzerrijke bodem van Salento die de wijnen hun karakteristieke precisie en mineraliteit geeft. De druiven worden zorgvuldig met de hand geoogst en gevinifieerd in temperatuurgecontroleerde tanks voordat ze 8 maanden in Franse eiken vaten rijpen. Dit zorgt voor een intense, diepfruitige rode wijn met een gulle, volle body, stevige tannines en een zeer lange afdronk met toetsen van winterse kruiden, donkere chocolade en geroosterde koffiebonen.
