Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    In 1970 nam de beroemde Italiaanse wijnmaker Angelo Gaja de leiding over van het familiebedrijf dat in 1859 werd opgericht. Trots op het wijnverleden van zijn familie en vastbesloten om het domein naar de toekomst te leiden, bracht Angelo een gepassioneerde vastberadenheid met zich mee om wijnen van topkwaliteit te produceren die benchmark voorbeelden zouden worden van de edele Nebbiolo druif. Zijn baanbrekende visie was om Italiaanse wijnen te creëren die zich konden meten met de beste wijnen uit Bourgondië en Bordeaux.

    Angelo begon zijn ambitieuze plannen door een groot deel van de wijngaarden van de familie te herbeplanten en te investeren in roestvrijstalen tanks met temperatuurregeling waarmee hij het wijnproductieproces zorgvuldig kon controleren. Hij veroorzaakte ook plaatselijke controverse door topwijnmakers in Bordeaux en Californië na te bootsen en kleine eikenhouten vaten te gebruiken om zijn wijnen te laten rijpen. In die tijd gebruikten de meeste lokale producenten nog steeds enorme kastanjehouten vaten, botti genoemd.

    Promis is een goed voorbeeld van Angelo's baanbrekende aanpak, omdat het wordt gemaakt van fruit uit Bolgheri bij de Toscaanse kust in een "Super Toscaanse" stijl met internationale druivenrassen. De blend is voornamelijk samengesteld uit Merlot samen met een kleiner deel Syrah en Sangiovese die goed gedijen op de lokale terre brune of donkere bodems en hete zomerdagen gekoeld door zeebries. Het resultaat is een rijke, voluptueuze rode wijn die barst van de tonen van donkere bessen en pruimen en subtiele kruidige tonen van de 12 maanden rijping op eikenhouten vaten.
