    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Kevin Judd werkte zo'n 25 jaar als wijnmaker voor Cloudy Bay, en hielp Marlborough op de wereldkaart te zetten voor Sauvignon Blanc. Greywacke is zijn eigen label dat hij in 2009 oprichtte en vernoemde naar de grijze rivierstenen die zo veel voorkomen in de regio. Judd maakt zijn wijnen in Dog Point Winery in Brancott Valley, met fruit uit de Southern Valleys en Wairau Plains.

    De druiven voor deze prachtige Pinot komen uit de zuidelijke valleien van Marlborough, waarvan de meeste uit de Yarrum Vineyard. De omstandigheden hier zijn ideaal voor het maken van elegante Pinot Noir dankzij de heuvelachtige wijngaarden en de gemengde bodem die verschillende hoeveelheden klei, leem en grind bevat. De druiven worden zorgvuldig met de hand geoogst en gekoeld zodra ze in de wijnmakerij aankomen, voordat ze met wilde gisten in open tanks worden gefermenteerd. De jonge wijn wordt vervolgens overgebracht naar Franse eiken vaten voor 16 maanden voordat het mengen en bottelen plaatsvindt.

    Diepe cassis, bramen en donkere pruimen tonen verleiden op de neus, terwijl de eerste slok wordt gedomineerd door geplette bessen, hints van kruidnagel en kaneel, en tabaksblad op de lange afdronk. De medium body en goed afgeronde textuur worden aangevuld met verfijnde tannines, een elegante structuur en subtiele frisheid die zorgen voor evenwicht en evenwicht.
