Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    De South Ridge Syrah is een klassieke blend in Northern Rhône stijl, geboren en getogen op de zonnige terrassen van Paso Robles, Californië. Rijke geuren van bosbessen en sterke Earl Grey thee worden ondersteund door hints van witte en roze bloemen. De fruitige Syrah-druiven worden verheven door spatten Grenache, Viognier en Mourvèdre.

    Het verhaal van de J. Lohr wijnmakerij begon in de jaren 1960 toen de gelijknamige Jerry Lohr uit South Dakota op zoek ging naar een onaangeboord Californisch terroir. De basis van het wijnhuis is Monterey County, maar Jerry herkende al snel het potentieel van Paso Robles - met name voor het verbouwen van Franse druivensoorten. Sinds Jerry daar in 1986 begon met het aanplanten van wijnstokken, is de regio enorm in populariteit gegroeid, en deze Syrah blend kan uitstekend uitleggen waarom.

    Het begint met een golf van rood en zwart fruit. Zure kersen, wilde frambozen en bramen mengen zich met hartige ondertonen van venkel, leer, tabak en natte aarde. Er zijn ook hints van raskruiden te vinden en een uitstekende structuur waardoor deze wijn nog een tijdje kan rijpen in een kelder. Het is een unieke combinatie van Noord-Rhǒne en Noord-Californië. Perfect om te combineren met gestoofd rundvlees, barbecue of gerijpte, rokerige kazen.
