A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Drink hem nu of bewaar hem enkele jaren in een kelder. Het hoofdkantoor van Marani ligt in het hart van Georgië, Kakheti, in de Alazani riviervallei. Telavi Wine Cellar is al meer dan een eeuw aan het werk en combineert sinds 1915 respect voor de geschiedenis met een gezonde dosis innovatie.

    Marani's grootste en meest gevarieerde wijngaard ligt in Kondoli. Hier zijn kleine percelen gewijd aan internationale fruitrassen, zoals Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon en Riesling, maar het leeuwendeel is beplant met inheemse Georgische rassen. Daartoe behoren de voortreffelijke Mtsvane en Kisi, die samenkomen in deze prachtige droge witte wijn.

    De rijke tropische fruitigheid van Kisi en de natuurlijke frisheid van Mtsvane maken van deze blend een hemels huwelijk. De vruchten werden geteeld op leemgrond boven kalksteen, voordat ze zorgvuldig met de hand werden geplukt en gesorteerd. Een boeket van bloesem, zachte pruimen en ananas komt naar voren, gecombineerd met een verrukkelijk mondgevoel. De duidelijke kenmerken van beide druiven komen naar voren in de lange afdronk - een citrusbits van Mtsvane en de zachte smaken van perzik en nectarine van Kisi. Goed te combineren met gegrilde vis, geroosterde groenten of gevogelte.
