Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Merryvale Vineyards werd 40 jaar geleden opgericht en is een Californisch familiebedrijf in Napa Valley. Het bedrijf produceert rijke en krachtige wijnen in kleine batches, voornamelijk op basis van Cabernet Sauvignon en Chardonnay druiven, afkomstig van geselecteerde percelen. Hun historische gebouw is een van de populairste bestemmingen voor wijntoeristen, omdat het het eerste bedrijf was dat in 1933 werd gebouwd, aan het einde van de Drooglegging.

    De Profile is voornamelijk Cabernet Sauvignon, met kleine toevoegingen van Petit Verdot. De druiven komen van één enkele wijngaard in Conn Valley. Na de vinificatie rijpt de wijn 26 maanden in Franse eiken vaten (75% nieuw).

    De wijn heeft een diepe en intense kleur met paarse tinten. Het aromaprofiel is krachtig en breed met tonen van pruimen, zwarte bessen, bosbessen en cassis en vervolgens geroosterde specerijen, aardse hints en tabak. In de mond is hij rijk en gestructureerd, stevig en vol. De smaak is geconcentreerd en de tannines zijn stevig. De afdronk is lang en herinnert aan kruidige tonen. Het is een karaktervolle wijn die vraagt om rijke en stevige gerechten, zoals stoofpotten met rood vlees of wild.
