Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Gevestigd in de pittoreske Sloveense regio Goriška Brda, is Movia een van de meest opwindende wijnhuizen van Oost-Europa dankzij hun eclectische assortiment van ambachtelijke en biodynamische wijnen. Het landgoed dateert uit 1700 en is sinds 1820 in handen van de plaatselijke familie Kristančič. Ze bewerken in totaal 18 hectare wijngaarden, waarvan ongeveer de helft over de grens in Italië ligt.

    Deze prachtige Cabernet wordt gemaakt in de traditionele Movia-stijl, waarbij laat wordt geoogst en vergist met behulp van wilde gisten. De wijnstokken hebben een gemiddelde leeftijd van 30 jaar, wat helpt om intens fruit te produceren met relatief lage opbrengsten. Na de handmatige oogst worden de druiven gedurende 3-4 weken gefermenteerd en gemacereerd, waarna de jonge wijn vier jaar rijpt in grote Sloveense eikenhouten vaten van 180 liter.

    Deze uitgebreide rijping helpt bij het produceren van een zeer intense en complexe wijn met vele smaaklagen. In de neus zijn er hints van donkere bessen en kersen, maar ook leer, zoethout en kruiden uit een sigarenkistje. De eerste slok onthult een volle body, soepele en rijpe tannines en een levendige kern van fruit die zeer goed zal reageren op extra opslag.
