A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    De Barbaresco van de producenten van Barbaresco is een van de beste rode wijnen van Piemonte, met een oude geschiedenis. Hij werd voor het eerst genoemd aan het eind van de 18e eeuw, maar het was rond 1894 dat Barbaresco de wereld begon te veroveren dankzij Domino Gavazza en zijn Cantine Sociali. Na hem richtte Don Fiorino Marengo in 1958 Produttori del Barbaresco op.

    De oogst van Barbaresco is tegenwoordig geconcentreerd in enkele gemeenten in de provincie Cuneo en in het beroemde gebied van de Langhe. Deze gebieden zijn erg regenachtig en mistig, maar daarom zijn ze ideaal voor Nebbiolo, een delicate wijnstok die een langzame rijping vereist om in sommige jaren tot eind november door te gaan. De kalk- en kleigrond, samen met de hoogte van het gebied, zijn belangrijke elementen van de teelt, om de kwaliteit van Barbaresco ten volle te benutten.

    Het is een warme en evenwichtige rode wijn, met een dichte en delicate tannine textuur en hints van framboos, bosbes en aalbes. Het heeft een goede zuurgraad en een aanhoudende afdronk. Het is een elegante wijn, te combineren met pasta met vleessauzen en risotto met truffels of paddenstoelen.
