A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Het wijnhuis RAEN werd in 2013 opgericht door Carlo en Dante Mondavi, kleinzonen van de zeer beroemde Robert Mondavi. Na hun studies in Europa werkten de twee wijnboeren samen met het team van wijnmakers onder leiding van hun vader Tim Mondavi bij de Robert Mondavi Winery tot de verkoop ervan in 2004, toen ze in 2005 deelnamen aan de oprichting van Continuum. Carlo en Dante zetten een prestigieuze familietraditie en de lessen van hun grootvader en vader voort en concentreren de productie van hun wijnhuis op drie Pinot Noirs van uitzonderlijke klasse, afkomstig van drie locaties op de westelijke heuvels van de Sonoma-kust, en twee Chardonnays.

    Royal St. Robert Cuvee is een uitzonderlijke Pinot Noir gewijd aan de nagedachtenis van grootvader Robert Mondavi, die een fundamentele rol speelde in Carlo en Dante's wijnvorming. De druiven worden geselecteerd in de kustwijngaarden van de westkant van Sonoma. De gisting vindt plaats met inheemse gisten.

    De wijn onthult een intens en levendig aromatisch profiel met rozenblaadjes, aroma's van zwarte en rode kersen, frambozen en pruimen, mediterrane kruiden, bosgrond en zwarte thee smaken. In de mond is deze Pinot Noir elegant en zijdeachtig, levendig en met fijne en delicate bloemenaroma's en enkele kruidige tonen. Het is de perfecte wijn voor vederwild, eend en gans.
