Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Schramsberg heeft een reputatie voor het maken van uitzonderlijke mousserende wijnen dankzij deze sensationele bubbel die voor het eerst werd gemaakt in 1965. Destijds was het de eerste droge mousserende wijn van Chardonnay die in de VS werd verkocht. De Blanc de Blancs werd nog beroemder in 1972 toen hij werd geserveerd door president Nixon tijdens het "Toast to Peace" diner in Beijing.

    Om deze mousserende wijn te maken gebruikt Schramsberg kleine partijen wijn die zijn vergist in eikenhouten vaten om extra complexiteit en een rijke, romige textuur toe te voegen. De wijn ondergaat dan een tweede gisting in de fles, hetzelfde proces dat wordt gebruikt om Champagne in Frankrijk te maken, en rijpt twee jaar op de droesem voordat hij wordt gedegorgeerd.

    Deze lange rijpingsperiode helpt bij het creëren van een verfijnde en gracieuze mousserende wijn met veel kleine belletjes, hints van toast en vanille, en een gemiddelde body. In de mond zijn er ruime tonen van heldere limoen, grapefruit, groene appel en abrikoos unlaid met kamperfoelie, gember en honing. Het complexe maar verfrissende smaakprofiel maakt dit een geweldige wijn om te serveren als aperitief of om van te genieten bij alles van oesters en ceviche tot pittige Thaise curry's, gegrilde zeebaars of gebraden kip.
