A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Ontstaan in 2007 door Trey Busch, Jerry en Sandy Solomon, is Sleight of Hand Cellars al uitgeroepen tot een van de opkomende wijnmakerijen in de staat Washington. Het wijnhuis ligt in het zuiden van Walla Walla en produceert heerlijke wijnen van druiven afkomstig van een combinatie van zijn wijngaarden en enkele van de beste locaties in de staat Washington. Muziek speelt een fundamentele rol in de filosofie van het bedrijf, en het motto is dan ook: "Geweldige wijn, geweldige muziek, veel plezier".

    De Conjurer van Sleight of Hand is een klassieke Bordeaux blend van Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot en Petit Verdot gerijpt gedurende 11 maanden in 25% nieuw Frans eikenhout.

    Op de neus is er een overvloed aan kruidige noten, vergezeld van uitnodigende aroma's van rijpe zwarte en rode bessen, aalbes, en peper, zwarte olijven en tabak die verdere complexiteit toevoegen aan het aromatische profiel. In de mond is de wijn rijk gestructureerd, ongelooflijk zacht en omhullend. De tannines zijn vlezig en worden ondersteund door een levendige zuurgraad en een uitstekende fruitconcentratie. De finale is extreem lang.

    Het is een sappige en fruitige wijn die perfect past bij rijke vleesbereidingen, vooral wanneer deze wordt geserveerd met fruitsauzen.
