A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    De Solomnishvili familie wijngaard is een zeer klein landgoed met slechts 0,2 hectare wijngaarden. Omdat de wijnstokken zeer dicht op elkaar staan, kunnen machines er niet bij. Giorgi Solomnishvili verzorgt de wijngaarden daarom persoonlijk, met de hand. Deze aanpak garandeert de hoogste druivenkwaliteit ooit, en het resultaat is een serie zeer exclusieve wijnen met zeer beperkte productieaantallen.

    De Saperavi #22 is afkomstig van 20 jaar oude wijnstokken gelegen op ongeveer 400m hoogte, op alluviale bodem met klei, grind en kalksteen. De druiven worden handmatig geoogst en de vinificatie vindt plaats volgens de traditionele Qvevri-methode. De wijn rijpt vervolgens 18 maanden in Franse eiken vaten.

    De wijn toont een complexe en rijke neus van bramen en pruimen, pure chocolade, vanille en specerijen, tabak en leer. In de mond is hij zacht, rond, elegant en zijdeachtig. De tannines zijn stevig maar rijp, en de afdronk is lang en aangenaam. Hij is klaar om nu gedronken te worden bij rundvlees, lamsvlees en wild gevogelte, maar hij mag wat langer rusten in uw kelder.
