Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Gevestigd aan de voet van het prachtige 14e eeuwse kasteel van Serralunga d'Alba, is Tenuta Cucco genoemd naar de "cucco" of top die de oudste wijngaard van het landgoed is. Het landgoed staat bekend om zijn uitzonderlijke terroir in het oudste deel van Barolo, waarbij de wijngaarden op de heuvels perfect uitgebalanceerd fruit leveren met veel parfum en frisheid. De omstandigheden hier zijn ideaal voor het rijpen van de Nebbiolo druiven en het verfijnen van de van nature hoge tannines van het ras.

    Deze klassieke Barolo is een geweldig voorbeeld van de Tenuta Cucco stijl met veel jeugdige uitbundigheid ondanks de rijpheid. Na de oogst worden de druiven gevinifieerd, waarna de wijn 24 maanden rijpt in traditionele vaten van 25 hectoliter. Na het bottelen rijpt de wijn nog eens 12 maanden in de fles voordat hij klaar is voor vrijgave.

    Gedroogde roos, pruimen, zoethout en specerijen bepalen de expressieve en intensieve neus, terwijl de eerste slok een royale volle body, stevige tannines en een goed ontwikkelde structuur biedt. Het rijke fruitkarakter in de mond wordt zorgvuldig uitgebalanceerd door hartige tonen en een vleugje frisheid, met als hoogtepunt een lange, verfijnde afdronk met hints van tabak en gedroogde kruiden. Een geweldige wijn om te combineren met rood vlees, wild of zelfs stevige stoofschotels.
