Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    The Federalist is een in Napa Valley gevestigd Californisch wijnhuis van Terlato Wines, dat een reeks handgemaakte wijnen produceert van nieuwe wijnstokken in hun eigen wijngaarden in verschillende AVA's, waaronder Lodi, North Coast en Sonoma County. Op hun etiketten staan afbeeldingen van grondleggers zoals Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington en Abraham Lincoln. Hun portfolio omvat een duo van rode blends gerijpt in vaten die voorheen werden gebruikt voor het rijpen van Bourbon en een Chardonnay gerijpt in eikenhouten vaten uit Hongarije, Frankrijk en Amerika.

    Kleine hoeveelheden Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Syrah en Sangiovese worden toegevoegd aan de Cabernet Sauvignon druiven, geselecteerd uit verschillende blokken wijnstokken en apart gefermenteerd om de typische kenmerken van elke druivensoort te behouden. De uiteindelijke wijn rijpt 15 maanden op eikenhout (35% nieuw).

    De Cabernet Sauvignon van The Federalist is een krachtige wijn met een intens aromatisch profiel met rood en zwart fruit (braam, kers, pruim, bosbes en cassis) en tonen van hout en chocolade. In de mond is de wijn sappig, zacht en met een grote fruitconcentratie. De tannines zijn fluweelzacht en de afdronk is aanhoudend en aangenaam. Het is de ideale wijn voor een BBQ en in het algemeen bij rood vlees.
