    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Thistledown Wines werd in 2010 opgericht door Masters of Wine Fergal Tynan en Giles Cooke en produceert topwijnen in Zuid-Australië, waarbij de nadruk ligt op de druivenrassen Grenache en Syrah. Het bedrijf werkt met topkwekers in verschillende iconische regio's, zoals McLaren Vale en Barossa Valley. De activiteiten worden geleid door wijnmaker Peter Leske.

    De Grenache druiven voor The Vagabond wijn worden geselecteerd uit 4 dry-farmed wijngaarden bij Blewitt Spring. Hier zijn de wijnstokken geplant in diep zand met wat ijzeren stenen en opgeleid als struiken. De oogst is handmatig en de druiven worden per wijngaard apart gevinifieerd. Sommige percelen rijpen in betonnen puncheons, andere in eiken en weer andere in betonnen eieren.

    Deze heerlijke Australische Grenache is de klassieke uitdrukking van Thistledown's passie voor deze druivensoort. De kleur is intens met rode tonen en paarse tinten. Het aromatische profiel is elegant en complex met tonen van gedroogde bloemblaadjes, rozen, zwarte kersen en bessen, een vleugje specerijen en wat nuances van verse kruiden. In de mond is hij fris en levendig, fruitig en zacht. Hij heeft zachte tannines en een uitgesproken frisheid. De afdronk is lang en subtiel kruidig. Uitstekend bij kazen en wild. En niet te vergeten: het is een veganistische wijn!
